Discipleship Training School

  • The DTS is a school of information, transformation, and formation.  Students grow in Biblical Information and Character Transformation, and are given the tools for Ministerial Formation. The school is designed for: one, young Christian leaders who will return home to train other youth to be leaders in their church, denomination and city; and two, those who have been called by God to full-time cross-cultural missions.
  • Environment: Students are given the opportunity to grow in Biblical knowledge and Christian character. Students draw closer to God, learn to distinguish His voice, and acquire a newfound love for His Word.  Strong emphasis is placed on the whole person.  The student’s grade includes evaluation of his/her Biblical knowledge, personal character, work ethic, and interpersonal relationships.    Length: 6 months — DTS 2011 starts February 28 and ends August 5.

*Ministry settings range from small villages in the jungle to large cities in foreign countries. Students in the 2011 DTS will be ministering in the Amazon region, in Peruvian cities, and in neighboring countries.
  • The cost for the DTS ($2200 USD) covers room, board, teacher costs, and textbooks during the lecture phase; and travel costs, room, board, and ministry materials for the field assignment.  Should travel costs increase before the field assignment phase, we may need to charge an outreach surcharge not to exceed $150 USD.
Each student is responsible for his/her own health care and travel insurance, personal travel to and from Iquitos, school supplies, and any personal expenses, such as laundry, communications, toiletries, and snacks.
This training program is accredited through the University of the Nations in Kona, Hawaii.
Every full-time YWAM staff worldwide is first required to graduate from a DTS.  Graduates from the DTS in Iquitos are eligible to apply as staff to any YWAM base anywhere in the world. (YWAM has more than 1,000 ministry centers in more than 180 countries.)
